Our summer reading program begins on Saturday, June 17th with our kickoff party. Drop in anytime between 10:00 and 1:00 to register for our Summer Reading Challenge and do a couple of crafts. Face Flair returns to do face painting from 10-1:00pm. Staff will be on hand to teach simple balloon twisting. No registration required.
We have a great lineup of activities throughout the summer. To register for activities this summer, go to our online calendar, call us at (248) 684-0845, or stop by the Youth Reference desk. Registration for the Summer Reading Challenge must be done in person at the Youth Reference desk.
Youth Summer Challenge
We’ll have 8 weekly challenges this summer that kids can complete for prizes. If they complete 5 of the 8 challenges, they earn a free book. The weekly challenges will be available at the Youth Reference Desk and online starting June 17th. In the instructions of each challenge there is a starting date and the earliest date each challenge can be turned in for a prize. For example: Summer Reading Challenge 4 can be picked up or printed from our webpage as early as June 17th. It would include activities that start on July 8th but cannot be turned in for prizes until after July 15th.
All challenges must be turned in and redeemed by August 31st. This will be the last chance to receive prizes (while supplies last) and a book if your child completed at least 5 challenges (guaranteed). Ask a librarian for more details.
This year we are asking for your help. We want to know if participating in our Summer Reading Program is beneficial to your child and in what ways we can better serve our community. We will have a survey toward the end of the program with just a few questions to help provide us with a better understanding of how our services affect our children, our community and how we can improve our offerings.
