Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales Summer Reading Program

JUNE 10 – AUGUST  5, 2006

 

Registration begins on June 10, 2006.  Sign up to be a “Read-To-Me Buddy” or “I Can Read FIDo”.  Earn prizes for reaching reading goals and enter prize drawings.  Children must be registered for the summer reading program and have program tickets to attend the programs described below.  Most programs are for ages 3 and up with an adult.    Tickets are needed for each individual program.  Outdoor programs will be at the south side of the library near the Youth Department.  Our thanks to the Friends of the Milford Public Library for funding the summer reading program.

Oakland County Parks Puppet Mobile performs City Mouse, Country Mouse.   All ages with an adult.  Outdoors.   Rain date to be determined.

Super Craft Days in the Community Room.  Choose your favorites from several craft projects.  Ages 3 and up with an adult.

Learn Spanish with Beth Ginsbach.   Ages 3-5 may attend from 10:00-10:30 AM & ages 6-8 from 11-11:30 AM.  The classes are repeated on

The Rock-N-Roll K-9 performance team will perform a relay race, Hi-jumps, musical mat and other events.    These talented dogs perform along with Rock-N-Roll music.  All ages with an adult.

Movies with animals and pets for independent children ages 5 and up.  No younger siblings, please.  Caregivers must remain in the library, whether or not they choose to watch the movie.  100 tickets available at the Youth Desk each movie date for pet lovers who show their movie pass.  Movie titles will be posted in the library.

Paws With a Cause presents a puppy in training to be an assistance dog.  Meet the puppy and see a video on dog training.  Ages 4 & up with adult.

R.E.P.T.I.L.E. with Michael Brophy.  Learn about lizards, snakes and turtles with live reptiles.  Ages 4 and up with an adult.  Tickets at the Youth Desk beginning June 28.   Indoors in the Community Room.

Wednesday, July 19

(Half hour group sessions)

Ferret Fun.  The Midwest Ferret Fellowship group presents live ferrets.  Learn about ferrets and how to care for them as pets. Groups will see the ferrets at play during repeated 30-minute programs with questions and answer time.   Ages 4 and up with an adult.  Community Room.

Teddy Bear Picnic with bear stories & songs for all ages.  Bring your lunch, teddy bear and a blanket.  We’ll provide the entertainment, a snack and a cold drink.   Outdoors.

Woodcreek Farm Alpacas visit the library.  Learn about alpacas and the many items that can be made from their cashmere-like fleece.  All ages with an adult.  Outdoors.

Last Day to report reading time and collect prizes.

Celebrate the end of summer with the Cats & the Fiddler bluegrass concert.  These talented young musicians entertain all ages.  Tickets available at the Youth Desk beginning August 10th.  Community Room.
